I’ll find the best light in your home, straighten up a few items if needed, play with your toddler while baby eats, and happily make friends with the family dog. You don’t have to have everything figured out before I arrive. My job is to guide the experience so you can settle into the moment and focus on your family while we document the beautiful reality of life with a brand-new baby.
A Relaxed In-Home Newborn Session in Washougal WA
One of the biggest benefits of choosing an in-home newborn session is the ability to follow your baby’s lead. There is no stress of packing up diaper bags and rushing out the door.
This sweet family welcomed me into their Washougal home for a laid-back morning together. We spent time snuggling in baby’s nursery, rocking baby when needed, and taking plenty of milk breaks along the way. When baby let us know she needed a little extra comfort, we simply paused for some gentle rocking and a few rounds of “shhh, shhh, shhh” before settling back into the moment.
Those little pauses are part of the story, and part of the experience of an in home photo session.
Including the Family Dog in Newborn Photos
Pets can be every bit as important as the people in the home. This session included the family’s sweetheart golden retriever, who was eager to stay close. Some of my favorite images from this session were the quiet moments where everyone gathered together, dog included, creating photographs that truly reflect what life looks like right now.
These images tell a story of the family as they are today, and that’s exactly what lifestyle newborn photography is all about.
Taking Newborn Photos Outside at Home
We were able to step outside for a few photos in the family’s yard. I get this request pretty often from families, and if your home has a yard or outdoor space you love, we can absolutely incorporate it into your newborn session.
Their back and front yard provided a beautiful backdrop while still allowing us to stay close to home and keep the session comfortable for both parents and baby. We captured a few family portraits outdoors before heading back inside for more snuggles and quiet moments.
