Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your mini session!

Choose the Right Season for Your Family Photos Mini Session

Each season offers a unique backdrop and vibe. Here’s what to expect throughout the year:

🌸 Spring: Cherry Blossoms & Studio Comfort

Spring brings rainy days and pretty blooms. My spring family mini sessions take place under blooming cherry blossom trees or inside beautifully curated studios; dry and cozy during rainy season!

☀️ Summer: Golden-Hour Nights & Studio Days

Summer evenings make for gorgeous family photos. You can choose an outdoor wildflower location or opt for an indoor studio session — ideal for little ones whose bedtimes are before sunset.

🍂 Fall: Crisp Air & Cozy Backdrops

Fall is a favorite for many families and these sessions are known to book up quickly. We shoot in open fields or at charming tree farms with seasonal color.

🎄 Winter: Neutral & Holiday Studio

Winter is all about staying dry and cozy. My studio minis offer a mix of holiday-themed and neutral backdrops. They are quick, easy, and perfect for holiday cards.

Prepping Toddlers (and the Rest of the Family)

Let’s be honest — getting everyone ready for photos can feel like herding cats. But it doesn’t have to be stressful!

For Toddlers:

1-2 weeks before your session is a great time to start prepping kids on what to expect at our session. You can tell them that we’re going to have fun playing and snuggling while I take some family photos of you! My camera is pretty big and makes a “click click” sound. You can practice smiles in the mirror together and just know that I’m going to capture some precious moments no matter what.

• Keep it fun: Let them play and explore! I guide families in a candid, play-based way, so kids have fun and show genuine smiles.
• Bring snacks & comfort items: A camera-ready toy or small mess-free treat can work wonders.
• Nap timing matters: Choose a session time that fits your child’s best mood (usually after a nap and snack!).

For Grownups:

• Set expectations: Tell your family it’s about having fun, not posing stiffly. I’ll guide you through everything!
• Arrive early: Give yourself a 5-10 minute cushion so you’re not rushed walking into your session.
• Let go of perfection: The best photos come from real connection and moments.

What to Wear for Your Mini Session
