If you’ve ever looked at a photo and thought, “Wow, that light is magic,” chances are it was taken during golden hour.
Golden hour — the short window just before sunset — creates the most dreamy, soft, glowing light. It’s flattering, gentle, and full of warmth. It’s also the reason so many of my family sessions are scheduled a little later than you might expect.
And yes… even if you have babies or toddlers. 💛

This is usually the first question parents ask, and it’s a valid one. I’m just saying, keeping kids up a little past bedtime for one evening can be worth it!
Golden hour light:
I hear from clients that kids often do great with this small routine shift. Especially when the evening includes play, cuddles, and lots of connection.
Over the years, I’ve photographed countless families with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers during golden hour. Here are a few gentle adjustments that make all the difference:
✨ Bump nap time a little later
If your child naps, pushing that nap back even 30–45 minutes can help them feel rested for an evening session.
✨ Plan for a slower day
Keep the day calm and low-key. Less stimulation earlier often means happier kids later.
✨ Bring snacks + comfort items
A favorite snack, water, or photo-ready toy goes a long way during photos.
✨ Trust the process
Kids don’t need to be perfectly behaved — movement, curiosity, and real emotion are exactly what make your photos feel alive.
I get it — every family is different.
If sunset timing truly doesn’t work for your family, I also offer early morning sessions. Morning light can be just as beautiful, especially for families with early risers or little ones who thrive before noon.
We’ll choose the option that best fits your family’s rhythm — without sacrificing beautiful light.

My baby-led and family-focused approach lets me capture frame-worthy smiles and joyful candid photos that tell your family's story.
